They lived in Fort Sill, OK while Jim finished out his service. They returned to Iowa to live with Dot's parents while looking for work. A job (for Jim) with Western Electric working on a government contract resulted in multiple re-locations to Massachusetts; Syracuse, NY; Montgomery, AL; Ft Walton Beach; and Montana
Along the way, three children were born, Jim, Connie, & Carol. They had many adventures with their boat, moving the trailer and boat and kids, travels back to Iowa to visit family, visits from family, meeting and leaving friends, etc.
Uncle Lee with the Kids outside Gulf Aquarium Fort Walton, FL. Lee was stationed at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL. On the week-end they would drive over and back so Lee could visit. Jim taught Lee how to water ski on Easter Sunday in 1960 off the Destin Bridge.
They returned to Iowa and ended up settling in Marion where Jim began what would be a 30+ year career building houses. Agnes worked a couple jobs before settling into what would be a 20+ year career as a Teacher's Aide at Novak Elementary in the Linn-Mar Community School District. Along the way, the twins, David & Dianna, were born.
Jim built the family a home on an acreage outside of Marion, IA where Jim and Agnes raised their children and lived most of their lives
When he retired, Jim spent most of his time focused on projects in his workshop and around the acreage. Upon retirement, Agnes began reading through the books in the Marion library and volunteering at the First United Methodist Church in Marion. They traveled to Florida yearly through most of their retirement.
Jim passed away in May 2011 at the age of 81. Agnes continues living in the home they built within the Marion city limits two years before Jim's passing.
